JAMIE CASSOFF, PhD
Lead Researcher
Jamie Cassoff, PhD, is a Professor in Psychology at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec and co-founder of The Kids Sleep Clinic.
Her interest in sleep blossomed as she completed her PhD in Experimental Psychology at McGill University. She was especially drawn to the importance of sleep for the emotional, physical and cognitive health of children.
Throughout her PhD she published several peer-reviewed articles on pediatric sleep. For her dissertation, she designed an individualized sleep promotion program to motivate teenagers to adopt earlier bedtimes. She conducted a randomized controlled trial to evaluate her program and found that it was successful in improving adolescent sleep.
It was during her PhD that she learned that "one size fits all" sleep programs are less effective than more personalized approaches. In fact, the novelty of her PhD work was that she recommended using motivational interviewing- a very personalized technique, to help teenagers become motivated to go to sleep earlier. Although offering personalized plans is more effortful, she believes that it is worth it because in the long run the results are more impactful.
Following her PhD, she completed the Family Sleep Institute Child Sleep Consulting Program to further specialize in sleep in babies and young children. She brought her training and passion for 'personalization' to the sleep consulting field as she continues to consider each and every family unit to be unique.
Jamie is also committed to promoting higher education in this field by teaching Cognitive Development, Adolescent Development and other courses related to pediatric health at Concordia University in Montreal.

SUSIE MENKES, PhD, CPSC, CBS
Research and Development Team Member
Susie, founder of Healthy Little Sleepers, LLC. is an applied developmental psychologist, and a certified pediatric sleep consultant and behavior specialist residing in Los Angeles, CA. She’s has worked with kids throughout her career using knowledge and research regarding human development to help solve real world problems.
When she had her son in 2012, she knew a whole lot about development, but sleep was a whole other ball game! With all the contradicting opinions and advice from well-intentioned friends, family and books, she had no idea what was what.
So, she did what she knew best… She dove into the sleep research to understand newborn, baby, and toddler sleep. But there was a lot more she needed to learn, and that’s when she turned to the well-renowned Family Sleep Institute and became certified in pediatric sleep in 2015. With that, her knowledge, experience, and training, she helps take out all the guess work and worry away (or at least help it feel less so),and provide unparalleled support to families!
Susie has consulted for top parenting sites including What’s Up Moms, Shondoland’s Katie’s Crib, Joovy, Bump Club + Beyond, Beverly Hills Pediatrics, and Hatch Collection, to name a few, and she enjoys giving sleep talks for families, wellness seminars for corporations, and working hand-in-hand with families.
She is an active member in the Society of Research in Child Development and serves on the Medical Advisory Board for What’s Up Moms (The #1 Parenting YouTube Channel).
When not immersed in all things development and sleep, you can find her baking with her kids, sneaking in a workout, finding time to catch up with her husband, and writing her newsletter, the Healthy Little Note where parents can access useful information on the first five years of life (… and then some).
